Executive Vice President, Marketing

We are seeking a dynamic business executive to lead the Contiki USA Marketing Team, the US-based office of a global travel company, delivering industry-leading, immersive experiences in over 70 countries on six continents to 18-35 year old’s. Contiki’s US-based business model is primarily B2C but with little consumer brand awareness today. Our goal is to double the current, relatively small size of the US-based bookings over the next three years, with a well thought out, well executed and achievable set of business strategies.

The successful candidate will have an extensive consumer marketing and digital marketing background with a proven ability to drive consumer engagement and sales. This role will have a strong youth marketing focus and requires an expertise connecting with both millennial and Gen-Z audiences.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced marketing-focused leader who is hungry to take a fledgling, cool travel brand and substantially grow its presence and business in key targeted cities in the US. We need somebody who has the passion and zeal to drive the priorities forward. The role requires a balance of strong management experience with expertise in youth focused marketing, both traditional and digital channels.

The Executive VP Marketing will be responsible for overseeing the day to day activities of the US team, reporting through to Contiki’s CEO, who is based in Europe, with a close working relationship with TTC’s Chief Executive, who is based in LA and oversees the US market for TTC as well.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

You will lead the overall marketing activity to ensure total alignment and optimization of our overall budget and team efforts –

  • You should have a very strong understanding of digital marketing and be able to work across owned, earned and paid channels with Global Teams, Regional Teams and the in-House Performance marketing team based in our Cypress office.
  • A strong relationship is required with both the brand’s central marketing services, provided by CML, which is located in London (they are responsible forall of the creative brand content and messaging, including creative, campaigns and the web/digital team, also based in Europe) and the US-based TTC Digital Team.
  • Grow realistically and dramatically the Contiki USA & Latin American travel business, through strategic decision making on B2C marketing and sales focused activities and superb execution of these activities.
  • You will need to direct, manage and coach the US-based team to meet or exceed annual booking targets.
  • You will manage local budgets and be responsible for the P & L of the Contiki USA GSA business. This will include reviewing and approving monthly expenditures and be able to track and influence financial performance.
  • You will cultivate a culture of collaboration, innovation and performance within your team.
  • You will need to collaborate closely with the TTC Contact Centre management team, also based in Cypress, which oversees the Contiki reservations team, to ensure the optimization of converting all possible inbound and outbound leads and calls/texts.
  • Support customer service with respect to local customer issues that may arise.
  • You will be the face and spokesperson for the PR efforts of the company and direct the ongoing activities of the US-based PR agency relationship.
  • You will liaise closely with Contiki’s global support structure and team members, on various areas including yield management, development of new experiences, pricing and promotions, online and offline media, etc.
  • You will need to support and engage with TTC’s central functions (Shared Services) and team, to maximize results for your business, including TTC Tech, CRM (SalesForce-based), Finance and Accounting, Admin, People & Culture, etc.
  • As required on occasion, support and liaison with the Contiki North and South America Operations.

ABOUT YOU

  • 10+ Years Marketing Management, with travel-industry experience a plus but not required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in both consumer-direct marketing with strong experience with digital marketing channels.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office, CRM Systems (Salesforce), Google Analytics, Email Marketing and Project Management
  • Strong leadership experience in managing a team of passionate, likeminded individuals.
  • Strong written, verbal and communication skills.
  • Must have excellent people management skills, including the ability to inspire your team, influence relationships and gain buy-in from key stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities/projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to travel within the US and internationally as required.
  • Have a passion for innovation and thrive on creating an enjoyable, collaborative process in getting there.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of all communication channels (especially digital and content) and how they work together within an integrated ecosystem.
  • Be able to demonstrate how the strategy delivers on the business’ needs and focus on results and measurement.
  • Be a strong leader with great attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Highly personable with a collaborative spirit: someone who can develop strong and enjoyable working relationships internally and externally with ease.
  • Demonstrate that you are an excellent and credible communicator, experienced in developing strong client connections.
  • Be highly ambitious, with a thirst for continual learning and improvement.
